The Best of the magnificent MSC Poesia
If you like it classy with yet a sense of freestyle, you will LOVE the MSC Poesia!
Despite the age of the ship (build in 2007), it is in excellent shape, cabins, public areas are all well up to date in a classy, Italian style. On average, the vessel has around 2500 guests on board, yet has a maximum capacity of 3600. Plenty of public spaces, lots of different bars and lounges, 2 levels of the main dining room.
Rooms: our balcony room was very comfortable and spacious; furnished in a fiery Italian style, it felt warm and welcoming, and everything was neat and tidy. The bed was very comfortable; the extra couch was well appreciated; a writing desk with an extra chair, a spacious wardrobe, a minibar and a safe completed the room. The bathroom was not fancy, but functional and very clean. The room steward as very accommodating and professional; he took great care of us mornings and evenings!
Food: the buffet restaurant is located on the pool deck on level 13. We have hardly seen such a wonderful fruit and cereal bar in the morning and a gorgeous salad bar at lunch and dinner! You can savor Italian Pizza all day long, and many different pasta dishes are available here, besides of course a selection of meat and fish dishes, together with the kids friendly means and burgers. A fair warning for our North American friends when you are sailing out of Italy: you will encounter that the Italian culture is different than the North American culture; people won’t have the same sense of personal space here and you may feel it’s a bit more “unruly” at the buffet. While you may perceive this as “rude”, we encourage you to embrace other cultures, after all it is one of the reasons we are cruising the world! In the dining room, you’ll sit at nicely laid tables and can expect great, professional service and a variety of delicious different menus each night.
The pool areas are very attractive; the main pool is beautiful, but busy with lots of entertainment throughout the day; a well equipped bar is there as well, and what is even better: real Italian Gelato! For those who have booked the “Aurea experience” , you have access to a private, quiet sundeck on deck 14; cozy loungers, and the perfect bar service 🙂
The Spa was beautiful and if you like massages, you have to try a Bali massage, which is one of MSC’s signature treatments! There’s a extensive menu of massages and other spa treatments available. The Thermal Spa is also a great feature, very enjoyable and relaxing, as you soothe your aches and pain away in one of the saunas, steam rooms or hot tubs, overlooking then ocean!
The large, modern and well equipped fitness center is also situated in the Spa area; if you are looking to get into great shape or want to kick your fitness routine up a notch, try MSC’s Techno Gym technology
A health bar with delicious smoothies and green drinks is available in the Spa area.
Entertainment: never a dull moment! A different show every night in the gorgeous theater, live- music in the various bars, dance classes, jazz, disco music, not to forget to mention a very well equipped casino.
Our EXTRA tip: if you love a little extra indulgence, book the AUREA experience! It includes not only priority boarding and upgraded room amenities like a room diffuser, bathrobes and slippers, but also some great value perks, like the Unlimited Drink Packages, 1 massage of your choice, daily access to the Thermal Spa, extra sun deck and your choice ding in a separate area- a great value package, worth every Penny!
But best of all and most important are the friendships that you make, the moments that you savor and the memories you make, creating memories for a lifetime.
